Among designer Joseph Altuzarra’s favorite footwear styles is the d’Orsay pump. Developed by Count Alfred d’Orsay (1801-1852) as a snugly fitting improvement on military footwear of the time and later adopted—and elevated—by women, the classic silhouette is distinguished by its arch-revealing cutaway sides. This fall 2016 version, in smooth black leather, accents the low-cut vamp with a loafer-style strap and leg-lengthening pointed toe.
